Inaccettabile la testimonianza del capo di BP

Un deputato americano anziano ha considerato la testimonianza del capo esecutivo della BP come 'inaccettabile' e ha promesso di continuare a chiedere risposte in relazione alla gigantesca perdita di petrolio nel Golfo del Messico.

Due sono stati i temi centrali della testimonianza di Tony Hayward: che sarebbe prematuro giudicare in anticipo i risultati delle indagini sulle cause dell'esplosione sulla piattaforma Deepwater Horizon; e che come CEO (presidente esecutivo) non era stato coinvolto direttamente in decisioni legate alla costruzione del pozzo petrolifero destinato alla catastrofe, o alla sua sicurezza. Ma la sua reticenza nell'accettare di essere coinvolto negli eventi che hanno portato al disastro di due mesi fa ha causato una crescente frustrazione in parte dei membri del comitato, uno dei quali lo ha accusato di aver alzato un muro di gomma.

Dopo l'audizione il deputato democratico Ed Markey ha detto ai reporter che 'non lo so' è la risposta di qualcuno che ha deciso di ascoltare i suoi avvocati piuttosto che la spiegazione di cosa sia andato storto. Il deputato ha detto che continuerà a fare pressione tutti i giorni sulla BP per ottenere le risposte che gli americani meritano.

La perdita d'olio che è stata determinata dall'esplosione ha interessato, fino ad ora, più di 80 chilometri di coste del Golfo del Messico.

BP chief's evidence 'unacceptable'

A senior American congressman has dismissed the evidence of BP chief executive Tony Hayward as 'unacceptable' and has promised to continue demanding answers in connection with a huge oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
